WHAPLODE PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES OF THE WHAPLODE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD AT WHAPLODE ST CATHERINES VILLAGE HALL ON WEDNESDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 2021

Present; Cllrs Stafford, Allan Beal, Sally Beal, Mackman and Stancer, and the Clerk.

Apologies: 

Cllrs Barlow, Merchant, Stimson, Langstaff, Clay, and County Cllr Pepper.

Public Forum: 

No public members present, Mark Forth had been invited to attend but did not appear.

Minutes and Matters arising:

The minutes of the August meeting had been previously circulated and were` signed by the Chairman, as a true record. There were no matters arising.

Finance Report;

The Clerk reported the following cheques for payment which members agreed,

G Hawkes salary/expenses         £     344.00

Whaplode swimming pool fund  £   2,000.00

Balances:

Date of next meeting:

The date for the next full parish meeting is the 10th November at Saracens head There will also be a finance meeting on 13th October.

Planning applications,

The Clerk reported that applications had been dealt with as per annexed and circulated to members. The Saracens Head application had been the subject of a public meeting organized by Cllr Langstaff, to gauge any interest in making a community asset application.

Allotments; 

The Clerk advised that Hix & Co were progressing completion of the Farm Business Tenancies. Cllr Merchant is obtaining costings for the Whaplode  garden allotment scheme.

Star of India footpath:

The Clerk reported that he would action and this item will remain on the agenda until completed.

Whaplode cemetery report by Clerk: 

Cllr Stafford advised that the extension part will be sprayed with weedkiller then reseeded. M Goose has been asked to quote for the remaining tree work.

Highway matters:

Whaplode St Cathrines – no issues

Saracens Head – no issues

Whaplode –  Highways are to completely resurface the High Road, an Archer report will be completed a local survey over a 12 hour period measured 1,000 vehicle movements per hour.

Whaplode Drove – Cllr Mackman will report the pot holes in Whale Drove on fix my street.

Whaplode Playing Field:

There had been some instances of vandalism and anti social behaviour which will be reported to the PCSO and area constable.

Community speed watch:

Following training none of the attendees had contacted the Clerk.

Whaplode Drove Community centre lease agreement:

The Clerk reported that he has a copy of the expired lease agreement and members agreed unanimously for a new agreement to be drawn up by Mossop & Bowser on the existing terms.

Whaplode swimming pool committee:

The Clerk reported that he had received an email from the committee Chairman advising that the fundraising had totalled £8,000 towards a target of £10,000 and a further £1,000 had been spent on new benches. The Chairman proposed and Cllr Beal seconded a proposal to donate £2,000 which members agreed.

Correpondence:

Cllr Stafford reported that a bench in the cemetery need to be moved.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 20.10pm.
