WHAPLODE PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES OF THE WHAPLODE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD VIA ZOOM ON WEDNESDAY 14TH APRIL 2021

Present; Cllrs Merchant, Langstaff, Sally Beal, Allan Beal, Mackman, Stafford and Stancer. The Clerk.

Apologies: 

Cllrs Stimson, Barlow and Clay. County Cllr Pepper.

Public Forum: 

None

Minutes and Matters arising:

The minutes of the February (2021) meeting had been previously circulated will be signed by the Chairman, as a true record and there were no matters arising.

Finance Report;

The Clerk reported the following cheques for payment which members agreed,

Date of next meeting:

The date for the next parish meeting is the annual meeting on the 12th May,  if current lockdown restrictions allow or via zoom.

Planning applications,

The Clerk reported that applications had been dealt with as per annexed and circulated to members. Cllr Beal and Cllr Merchant have both commented to planning on the Stockwell gate development.

Allotments; 

Cllr Merchants plan for some garden allotments to be made available in Whaplode from 04/2022, as been circulated to members, set up costs will be established. There had been some damage at the Whaplode Drove site and the incident had been reported to the Police.

Star of India footpath:

The Clerk reported that he would action and this item will remain on the agenda until completed.

Whaplode cemetery report by Clerk:

The Clerk reported that the cemetery now looked in excellent shape, all debris and tree work had been removed. The Chairman thanked members and in particular Cllr Stafford for their efforts Cllr Merchant has done a plan for the remembrance garden and reconstructed roadway. The parish council will then consider doing an application for funding to the wind farm to meet the cost of repairing the roadway.

Whaplode Playing Field:

Cllr Merchant advised that the playing field is currently very popular and there is now an active committee in place. The new bench has been ordered which the parish council has agreed to fund.

Community speed watch:

Any progress has been delayed by covid 19 restrictions.

Council policy on adopting BT telephone boxes:

The council has received requests from the WI in Whaplode and residents in Whaplode Drove to adopt their local boxes. Members are concerned about the councils responsibility when adopting and the Clerk will investigate the issues.
